Maternity Halloween Costumes

There’s no need to worry about what to wear if you’re pregnant and have been invited to a Halloween party.  Maternity versions of popular womens Halloween costumes are available, if you want to go as a witch or angel etc.  There are other costumes that can help hide your baby bump, and others that make the most of your round belly, it’s up to you.  Here are a few more ideas of fancy dress outfits that can work well during pregnancy and you could even make them yourself with items you already have if you’ve left it to the last minute or just want a cheap homemade costume.

If you’re a mother-to-be, bear in mind that you’ll be wearing your costume for the duration of the party, so it should be comfortable to wear and allow you to sit down if you need to.  Try to avoid choosing a costume that’s too warm, as you don’t want to overheat.  Also, make sure you can walk about safely without tripping over parts of your outfit, to avoid the risk of having a fall.

Floaty Gowns

Why not wear a flowing gown to cover your bump?  Ideas include a Greek goddess, Disney princess or even a pregnant nun or bride!

Bun in the Oven

Have fun with your bump and go dressed as an oven with a bun inside.  Ready made costumes like this are available from online stores, or you could attempt to make your own out of a large cardboard box.  An easier variation of this theme would be to wear a chef’s apron and pin a picture of a loaf of bread over your belly.

 Jack-o’-lantern

To stick to the traditional Halloween party theme, why not make the most of your belly and turn it into a jack-o’-lantern?  This is quite an easy DIY costume to make.  You’ll need a big orange T-shirt to stretch over your bump, onto which you can sew or draw a carved pumpkin face (make sure you use non-toxic paint).  Pair this with black maternity pants.
