Couples Halloween Costumes

If you and your partner have been invited to, or are hosting, a Halloween party, dressing up as couple can be fun.  There are lots of ideas for costumes for couples.  You could buy paired outfits from an online store, or if you’re creative and have the time, you could have a go at making your own unique costumes.  It depends on the fancy dress theme of the party, your budget and your own personalities as to what you go as, but here are some ideas:

Movie & TV Characters

When you start to think about it, there are lots of famous twosomes from the movies and TV shows.  For instance, Bert & Ernie from Seasame Street, Miss Piggy & Kermit from The Muppet Show, Tarzan & Jane or Mulder & Scully.  Try to choose a couple that have a distinctive look that it’ll be relatively easy for you to replicate, so people will be able to see at once who you are trying to be.

Cartoon Characters

Cartoons are another good source of inspiration for costumes.  You may need to be a little more creative, especially if you want to dress up as animals rather than human characters.  Classic cartoons are full of colorful, larger than life characters that will be instantly recognisable.  For example, there’s Tom & Jerry, Fred & Wilma Flintstone, Mickey & Minnie Mouse or Dick Dastardly & Muttley.  You can have a lot of fun making funny props to go with your outfit too.

Famous Couples

If you’d prefer a cheaper option, where you can use everyday clothes for your costumes, then you could go as a celebrity couple.  Try to choose a couple who are known for their particular style, so it is easier for you to emulate their look.  Have a look through celebrity magazines for ideas.  You could go as a currently famous couple, such as Posh & Becks or Jay-Z & Beyonce, or go further back, such as John Lennon & Yoko Ono or Madonna & Guy Ritchie.

Clever Pairs

If you’re the kind of couple that like to be different and come up with really original costumes that no one else is likely to have thought of, then try to think outside the box.  Brainstorm or look online for lists of pairs.  Try to come up with something unusual.  It doesn’t have to be people, it could be objects, food, countries… anything that often goes together.  Some ideas are Salt & Pepper, Black & White or Gin & Tonic.
